Teaching and Classroom Management in a Rural School: Joys and Challenges
Unique circumstances exist while teaching in rural schools. From her 20 years’ experience teaching in a Title I rural elementary school, presenter Cheri Long shares tips for providing a positive educational experience, including recognizing students’ potential, understanding students’ learning styles, responding to students’ needs and wants, appreciating spontaneity, and loving the unlovable.
Cheri Gentry Long, Ed.D, has taught in a rural elementary school for the past 20 years. She has served on various school and district committees throughout her career. She has written for KDP and plans to expand her writing based on her doctoral dissertation about single fathers rearing academically successful children. Her research interests focus on how to involve parents in their children’s academics.
